Jets HC Robert Saleh 'taking receipts' after blowout loss to Ravens

The New York Jets were without injured starting quarterback Zach Wilson for Sunday's season opener versus the Baltimore Ravens and were absolutely crushed to the tune of 24-9 in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the score might indicate.

That defeat dropped New York second-year head coach Robert Saleh to 4-14 overall and left many fans and observers already believing that this campaign will be just another edition of the "same old Jets."

Per Billy Riccette of Jets Wire/USA Today, Saleh told reporters Monday that he's heard such chatter and is making mental notes of comments made by supposed haters.

"It’s going to happen," Saleh said of the Jets improving throughout the season. "And we’re all taking receipts on all the people who continually mock and say that we ain’t going to do anything. I’m taking receipts and I’m gonna be more than happy to share them with all y’all."

Saleh added: "In my opinion, we did not get beat. We lost. Those are two totally different things." He also admitted that losing is "exhausting" and said that the Jets "want to win now."

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Saleh later appeared on "The Michael Kay Show" that airs on ESPN New York and repeated that he's taking receipts of what's being said about the Jets after the Ravens loss and is looking forward "to shove it down everyone’s throat when it comes around."

Jets backup quarterback Joe Flacco completed 37-of-59 passes for 307 yards with one touchdown and an interception in the defeat. As Michael David Smith noted for PFT, Saleh said Monday that Flacco "more than likely" will again get the nod for this coming Sunday's game at the 1-0 Cleveland Browns that will be Cleveland's home opener.
