Defensive lineman John Cominsky has agreed to renegotiate his current deal with the Detroit Lions.

According to NFLPA records, Cominsky has agreed to a base salary reduction from $5.1 million to $2.5 million with an extra $500,000 bonus guaranteed.

As a result of his contract being re-worked, his cap hit will reduce from $6.3 million to $4.2 million in 2024.

The veteran defensive lineman agreed to a two-year, $8.5 million extension following the 2022 season. His extension included a $2.4 million signing bonus, $4 million in guaranteed monies and an average annual salary of $4,250,000.

Cominsky spent the first three seasons of his career with the Atlanta Falcons.

The former 2019 fourth-round pick has played 57 career games and has recorded 7.5 career sacks, 107 combined tackles, six passes defensed and 25 quarterback hits.

"He handles a lot of jobs for us. He handles the big end. He can play three-technique inside. He's really one of the keys for us setting up our rush game when we get in third down and some of those things," Dan Campbell said about the veteran defender. "He's physical, he's got push, he can separate and he can play the run. He's a little bit of the unsung hero for us on the D-line."
