Josh McDaniels gets revenge in Denver
Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels served Denver a plate of cold-hard revenge.
The Raiders stunned the Broncos in a 22-16 overtime victory, thanks to a 35-yard winning touchdown by star wideout Davante Adams.
McDaniels, who was the Broncos head coach from 2009-10, made his first return to Denver since the franchise fired him.
Even though he downplayed the storyline throughout the week, it's a sweet victory because McDaniels is 2-0 against his former team. The win within the AFC West helps the Raiders avoid last in the division, and it's their sixth consecutive victory against the Broncos.
Also, the victory shows they can win close games under McDaniels, something they've struggled to do this season.
The Raiders (3-7) have lost six one-possession games, but they managed to hang on in Denver. The defense didn't surrender a touchdown in the second half, and Derek Carr engineered a seven-play, 71-yard drive that led to a field goal, sending the game into overtime.
Escaping with a victory helps McDaniels re-establish confidence within the organization, which can rebuild his head coaching reputation.
