Kenny Golladay wants to remain with Lions: 'I'm a loyal person'

Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay has played just five games this season due to injury. It has led to plenty of speculation that he wants out of Detroit. However, The 27-year-old says that's not the case.

Golladay admitted on Friday that he prefers to sign a long-term deal with Detroit, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

“I want to be here, like the city, like what’s going on.

“They believed in me. And say, if a contract, if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, then I’ll go somewhere else and ball out and play. But like I say, I’m a loyal person and of course I want to be here. I started my career here.”

There has been much speculation that Golladay is sitting out games because he hasn't landed the extension he desires from the Lions. Interim head coach Darrell Bevell squashed those rumors this week, saying that Golladay "really wants to play," but can't because of his injury.

After back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019, many believed Golladay would've entered the 2020 season with a new deal. There have been no reports about contract discussions between Golladay and the Lions even though he's slated to become a free agent in March,

The Pro Bowler has 20 receptions for 338 yards and two touchdowns on the season. If the Lions don't show interest in re-signing him, other teams certainly will pounce on the opportunity to bring in the talented wideout.
