Lions QB Matthew Stafford, C Frank Ragnow questionable vs. Titans

Quarterback Matthew Stafford and starting center Frank Ragnow of the Detroit Lions are dealing with two very different injuries but are both listed as questionable heading into Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Stafford hurt his ribs in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers and was ultimately replaced by backup Chase Daniel, who could be in line to start versus Tennessee after Stafford failed to practice throughout midweek preparations, per Michael Rothstein of ESPN. 

"This may or may not be a workout situation," Detroit interim head coach Darrell Bevell told reporters on Friday while adding that Stafford is slated to travel with the team to Tennessee. "Obviously, the conversation of what he's doing kind of on the side before we even get that far. But if we need to have a workout Sunday morning, then we'll end up doing that as well." 

Daniel completed three of six passes for 29 yards against Green Bay in the 31-24 defeat. 

Ragnow, meanwhile, suffered a fractured throat during the Green Bay game and visited a specialist on Friday for an update on his condition. Bevell said about Ragnow's status:

"I can tell you this: I know that we went from our people to the specialist, and the specialist will really guide us on that information and whether it's safe for him to go back out in the game. I can tell you we're not going to put him out there if it's not safe.

"We don't want long repercussions of this for him down the road, and I don't think he would want that either. So we'll take the information that we get from the specialist and go with that."

Detroit could also keep Ragnow a spectator if he can't loudly make line calls at Tennessee because of the setback. 

The Lions sit at 5-8 and will likely miss the playoffs regardless of how they perform against the Titans, so everyone involved should be thinking beyond Week 15 before making final decisions on game-day statuses.
