After the NFL world spent the majority of last week at the Senior Bowl, draft prospects were able to showcase how they could potentially fit with various teams

For the Lions, new coach Shaun Dion Hamilton was able to get a look at many defensive backs, as he was working with prospects during the week of practice.

In CBS Sports' first mock draft since the Senior Bowl concluded, Detroit general manager Brad Holmes is selecting at No. 6 overall (via the Rams) and at No. 18 overall.

With the No. 6 overall pick, the team adds Clemson defensive lineman Jalen Carter.

"The Lions use the first of two first-rounders to add arguably the best player in this draft," Ryan Wilson writes. "In related news: a defensive front that includes Carter and Aidan Hutchinson is a real problem for the rest of the NFC North."

With the second of two first-round picks, Detroit adds to its secondary by drafting Maryland Terrapins cornerback Deonte Banks.

"Maryland teammate and fellow CB Jakorian Bennett got much of the buzz in the fall, but Deonte Banks put together the type of season that will land you in the top-50 conversation. He's a fluid athlete who is also a big, physical corner who can match up with NFL wide receivers."

Dan Campbell recently added a new defensive backs coach to his staff.

Dre Bly was known for his aggressiveness and ability to get his hands on the football.

During his stint in Detroit, Bly recorded 19 interceptions.

Also, he recorded 43 total interceptions in 11 seasons playing in the NFL.

Banks' size makes him an ideal candidate to work his way into the first round of the 2023 draft.
