New details have emerged regarding the nature and recovery timetable for Joe Burrow’s wrist surgery.

Burrow underwent successful surgery on Nov. 27, with the team offering no timetable for when he might be able to resume football activities. Burrow was operated on by renowned hand surgeon Dr. Thomas Graham, and the procedure repaired a tear in the scapholunate ligament, which is important for wrist stabilization.

Most notably, Burrow should be able to return to action in four to six months, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. As expected, it leaves Burrow with no shot of a playoff return, but should ensure that he is fully healthy well ahead of training camp in 2024.

Burrow has been around the Bengals since undergoing the procedure, and made quite the gesture for one of his teammates. While this will wind up being a lost season for the quarterback, his prognosis sounds about as positive as it could be expected to be.
