The Washington Commanders are in need of some upgrades this offseason. While many are focused on improving at quarterback, improving the protection for whoever is under center is arguably even more important.

One player who could help protect the Commanders' quarterback next season is free-agent offensive guard Robert Hunt.

Hunt is a four-year veteran who started 55 of his 61 games during his tenure with the Miami Dolphins, and he's been rumored to be a potential free-agent fit in Washington due to the team's struggles against the pass rush.

Last season, the Commanders gave up 65 sacks, tied for the second-most in the league. Sam Howell showed some promise as a first-year starter last season even though things weren't perfect, but regardless of whether the team gets a new quarterback, the offensive line must improve to give them a better chance at success going forward.

"Washington was particularly vulnerable on the offensive interior, and it could lose center Tyler Larsen and guard Saahdiq Charles in free agency," BR writes. "Bolstering the interior line should be one of Washington's first priorities in free agency, and Dolphins guard Robert Hunt is one of the best linemen at any position headed to market. The Commanders have the cap space to sign him, and they could."

This upcoming season is important for the franchise as new general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn implement a new regime. But first, they must begin fleshing out Washington's roster in free agency.

Keep an eye on some of the top offensive linemen once free agency starts because the trenches very well could be where the Commanders prioritize adding veterans the most ahead of the NFL Draft in order to give a potential rookie quarterback the best chance at succeeding and becoming the face of the franchise if the team invests its No. 2 overall pick in him.
