NFL 'MNF' player prop: Gainwell through the air
Nine months ago, Kansas City rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Philadelphia 38-35 in a memorable Super Bowl. Monday night’s rematch figures to be similarly competitive, but since it takes place at notoriously raucous Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs hold a distinct home-field advantage. If the Eagles find themselves trailing this time around, a negative game script only stands to benefit the player we’re backing for our top prop:
The bet: Over 6½ receiving yards for Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (DraftKings)
In that tough title-game defeat, Gainwell caught four passes for 20 yards. He was used as the primary back on passing downs throughout the playoffs and cleared this number in all three games.
Although the starter at the position has changed from Miles Sanders to D’Andre Swift, Gainwell’s role has largely remained the same this season. He often plays on third downs because he’s equally trusted as a blocker and ballcarrier. It happened that both of his third-down touches were rushes in Philly’s last game, but he secured all five of his targets and turned them into 30 yards the week before.
Gainwell’s best performance as a receiver came when the Eagles faced this Chiefs defense in 2021. He drew eight throws from Jalen Hurts in an eventual 42-30 loss, establishing career highs with six receptions for 58 yards.
Kenny Gainwell? Certainly. Living up to his name tonight could get us home on a single catch.
