NFL MVP odds after Week 1: Patrick Mahomes moving up the board

Even with just one week of games in the NFL, the betting market has already shifted the odds for MVP. It's a small sample size, but the public has shifted a few players around the board. When we last checked in, Josh Allen was the favorite this summer, followed by Tom Brady.

It looks like the market is favoring a pair of AFC West quarterbacks who spread the ball around in Week 1 en route to wins. We have a new favorite this morning, at least on Caesars.

Top Ten: NFL MVP Odds

Odds are courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook

  1. Patrick Mahomes, +500
  2. Josh Allen, +550
  3. Justin Herbert, +700
  4. Tom Brady, +1200
  5. Jalen Hurts, +1400
  6. Lamar Jackson, +1500
  7. Joe Burrow, +1600
  8. Aaron Rodgers, +1600
  9. Kirk Cousins, +2200
  10. Kyler Murray, +2500

It's interesting that Caesars has moved Mahomes up to the favorite. He's +750 on DraftKings, with Josh Allen still the owner of the lowest odds. Allen is also the favorite on BetMGM at +450, while Mahomes is right behind him at +550.

Justin Herbert was +1000 this summer but quickly moved up the board after a solid day even after his top weapon, Keenan Allen, left with an injury.

Mahomes' strong Week 1 powers the shift

There was some wondering how the Chiefs offense would look without Tyreek Hill this year, but Mahomes quickly put those concerns to rest. The Kansas City QB tossed for 360 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions en route to an easy 44-21 win.

Mahomes completed a pass to nine different Chiefs, and as long as the offense is humming like this, he has to be considered a front-runner for his second MVP.

Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson: Biggest falls

Aaron Rodgers was +1000 to win his third straight MVP before the season, but the rough opening day performance for Green Bay brought the Packers QB down to +1600.

It's such a volatile market, there's plenty of time for both Rodgers to step up and these odds to change again. If you're a believer that the Packers are set to run what is a wide-open NFC, now would be a good time to jump into the market and load up on a Rodgers wager.

Russell Wilson is no longer in the top 10, falling from +1500 to +3000 overnight following Denver's Week 1 loss to Seattle. Similarly to Rodgers, it's a long season and the Broncos had an easy win if they didn't twice fumble on the one. Grab Russ to win MVP if you're still a believer.
