NFL player prop: Bobby Trees, if you please
The football feast of Thanksgiving weekend keeps the sumptuous servings coming on Sunday, when the unexpected main course is an AFC South showdown. The 7-3 Jaguars are defending division champs, but to maintain their place atop the standings, they’ll need to avenge a Week 3 home loss to the 6-4 Texans. As each side looks to establish supremacy, an underappreciated contributor is deserving of our support for top prop:
The bet: Over 3½ receptions for Texans wide receiver Robert Woods (DraftKings)
The biggest key to Houston’s success under first-year coach DeMeco Ryans has been the high-level play of quarterback C.J. Stroud, the second overall pick in the draft. While his principal downfield threats are fellow rookie Tank Dell and veteran Nico Collins, Woods provides a reliable underneath option.
At the peak of his powers, Woods was a reception machine for the Rams, averaging roughly six grabs per game over three seasons. He started his Texans tenure with similar production, catching a half dozen passes in each of his first two contests. His subsequent dip was partly due to a foot injury that sidelined him for nearly a month, but he returned to prominence last week with five catches on eight targets.
That resurgence coincided with the absence of teammate Noah Brown, who will miss this game as well. Against a Jacksonville pass defense that ranks 29th and plays zone coverage at the fourth-highest rate, the man called “Bobby Trees” should find the open spaces.
