The Dallas Cowboys opened the 2023 NFL season with what Micah Parsons called a "statement'' win over the New York Giants, that 40-0 statement being, "We're the best defense in the National Football League.''

But Micah's teammates did some crowing, too, and did it during the blowout. In addition to Trevon Diggs "announcing'' that the Giants should quit trying to pass the football , defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa - very much in the middle of the barrage that included two non-offensive TDs, five fumbles forced, two interceptions, 10 tackles for loss and seven sacks - opted to morph from "Osa'' into "Oprah.'' ...

“You get a sack! You all get a sack!” Odighizuwa told his teammates, imitating Ms. Winfrey while mocking the pitiful Giants. “Now, for those of you in the audience today, if you look underneath your seat, you’ll find there is a sack!”

During the game, five different Cowboys did indeed collect at least one sack, with Odighizuwa and Dorance Armstrong each totaling two. Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Chauncey Golston also had one sack each.

Odighizuwa’s line is of course a parody of a classic moment on the old The Oprah Winfrey Show, when Oprah infamously but generously gave away a car to everyone in her studio audience during an episode.

We knew this Cowboys "Doomsday'' defense might pile up sacks this year under coordinator Dan Quinn; after all, they were tied for third in the league in total sacks with 54. But we didn't know they'd have so much fun with it that they could do "Oprah'' skits on the sideline against an opponent in the now mentally-damaged Giants who might need "Dr. Phil'' on theirs.
