Packers head coach Matt LaFleur 'wants' Aaron Rodgers back but has no update

Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones told "The Rich Eisen Show" on Thursday that he hadn't heard from disgruntled quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers and had no inside information about Rodgers' alleged desire to never again play for the club.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur also couldn't offer any groundbreaking news on the subject when speaking with reporters on Friday.

"I've got nothing new to update," LaFleur explained, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "We still obviously feel the same way. We want him back in the worst way. I know he knows that and we'll continue to work at it each and every day."

Earlier in the week, Packers four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams said on "The Peter King Podcast" that he had no "gut feeling" either way on what Rodgers may decide between returning to the Packers, attempting to force a trade, or retiring even though he's signed through 2023 and turns only 38 years old in December.

"Just trying to be positive, just keep my mind on it, I don’t even want to bring anything else into this universe," Adams told King. "I just want to think good thoughts and kind of downplay it in my head and just hope that at some point it just goes back to normal and we show up to camp and everybody’s ready to rock."

We may eventually learn that Rodgers said plenty with his silence on the matter this spring.
