Patrick Mahomes 'feeling great' coming off toe surgery

Arguably the largest non-story of the NFL offseason was the status of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes coming off the toe surgery he required following the Super Bowl LV loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Everybody from coach Andy Reid to Mahomes himself has ensured the masses the toe setback the one-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player initially suffered in January shouldn't be an issue later this year. The star signal-caller reiterated that take while speaking with NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

"The toe's feeling great," Mahomes explained, according to Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "I'm out here playing golf, being able to walk around the course. I've been running, cutting, jumping, throwing, doing it all. So I'm just excited to get back to training camp and have another chance to make a run at it and win the Super Bowl this year."

Back in May, Reid told reporters that Mahomes was "full-go" in organized team activities, and the quarterback's been on track to participate in the start of training camp sessions since even earlier in the spring.

The 25-year-old has experienced no setbacks through the first full week of July and should be 100% the next time he throws a football wearing Chiefs colors.
