PFF suggests Browns sign former Steelers LB
Pro Football Focus suggested the Browns add another edge rusher and they went out and traded for Za'Darius Smith. Now it is suggesting an off-ball linebacker from their division rival.
PFF says that Cleveland should sign LB Myles Jack, who "will still be just 28 years old for the duration of the 2023 season and has posted a missed tackle rate below 10% in three straight seasons."
Jack signed a two-year deal with the Steelers last offseason but was cut after posting 104 tackles and three passes defensed in 2022.
It was his second straight season in the NFL where he didn't have a sack, forced fumble or interception, but his sure tackling and experience at the position are still impressive. The Browns could use exactly that as LB Anthony Walker Jr. is coming off a torn quad tendon that ended his 2022 season.
Jack would help shore up the interior of Cleveland's defense, which has seen several new faces added to it this offseason.
The 27-year-old joined Pittsburgh on a two-year, $16M contract a year ago but should cost even less this time around.
The Browns have plenty of available funds if they're interested in Jack, boasting almost $17M in cap space.
Jack is hoping to prove he still belongs in 2023 and playing his former team twice a year will likely add some extra incentive.
