Pro Bowl OT Lane Johnson says he'll be ready for Eagles' playoff opener next week

After missing the final two regular season games with an injury, Pro Bowl tackle Lane Johnson provided Philadelphia Eagles fans with the update they hoped for ahead of the team's postseason opener next week.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Johnson cut through the speculation revealing that he'll be on the field when the Eagles begin its run toward another Super Bowl title.

"I'm playing," Johnson said after some pressing from McAfee. "We're gonna wrap this up and see what happens."

Johnson also cleared up a misconception regarding what type of injury he sustained in the Eagles' Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Initially reported as a core muscle injury, Johnson said he suffered an adductor tear, which isn't as severe.

"Before I got out of my MRI, it was already Tweeted out," Johnson said. "And I'm like, 'How the hell did they Tweet this out?' And it's wrong."

The injury does require surgery, but Johnson said he'll have it after the season.

Johnson mentioned that San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa had the same injury last season, resulting in around a two-month recovery following surgery.

When speaking with reporters on Friday, Johnson said he was trying to contact New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan, who played through the injury in 2019, to learn more about what he'll be dealing with next week.

Even if Johnson isn't at full strength when he takes the field for the division round, having him back in the lineup significantly boosts the Eagles' offensive line.

Over Johnson's 10-year NFL career, all with Philadelphia, the Eagles are 13-22 without Johnson and 79-47-1 when he's on the field, per StateMuse.
