Three impending free agents the Eagles need to re-sign

The Eagles are to set to have 18 players become free agents after this season, per USA Today's Glenn Erby

After putting together one of the best seasons in franchise history, it's safe to say they'll be looking to re-sign most of the talent on their current roster.

With that being said, let's look at the three players the Eagles need to re-sign ASAP.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

The shutdown safety was traded to the Eagles after contract talks broke down between Gardner-Johnson and the Saints. The Eagles gave up only a fifth-round pick and a sixth-rounder in 2024 to secure his talents. Since joining the Eagles, Gardner-Johnson has delivered, racking up 67 tackles, six interceptions and eight passes defensed. He is tied for the league-lead in interceptions with Minkah Fitzpatrick, Justin Simmons and Tariq Woolen, per NFL.com. His best game of the season was a Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys, where he finished with four tackles, two passes defensed and two interceptions. Gardner-Johnson has earned a long-term deal, whether it's with the Eagles or somewhere else for more money.

James Bradberry

After being cut by the Giants due to salary-cap issues, the Eagles signed the 2020 Pro Bowler to a one-year, prove-it deal. In his first year with the team, Bradberry logged three interceptions and 17 passes defensed, the third-most in the league behind only Sauce Gardner and Jalen Ramsey, per NBC Sports. He's formed one of the best cornerback tandems in the league alongside Darius "Big Play" Slay. All told, he's played well enough to earn a contract extension.

Javon Hargrave

Hargrave's contract with the Eagles will expire once this season is over, per Over the Cap. Standing at 6-foot-2, 305 pounds, Hargrave has developed into a beast on the Eagles defensive line. He earned his first Pro Bowl nod last season after enjoying a breakout year. Despite putting up better numbers this year — including a career-high 11 sacks — Hargrave missed the Pro Bowl. He's one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs of this season, NFL.com's Eric Edholm noted. Hargrave was part of a defensive line that made history this year. They led the league in sacks with 70, the third-most all-time behind only the 1984 Bears and the 1989 Vikings, per StatMuse. They also became the first team in NFL history to have four players record 10 sacks or more, per Iggles.com. The Eagles defensive line is their deepest unit. However, if they fail to re-sign Hargrave, his game-wrecking play will be greatly missed.
