The Las Vegas Raiders once again dedicated their time to Las Vegas area schools as part of Nevada Reading Week last week.

Raiders players, Raiderettes, and members of the front office went to a variety of local schools to read to students in an effort to motivate students to read in an environment other than school. The schools included Acelero Learning Headstart Programs, Addeliar D. Guy III Elementary School, D.L. Dickens Elementary School, Griffith Elementary School, Henderson International School, Howard Heckethorn Elementary School, Jack Dailey Elementary School, Legacy Traditional School, Robert E. Lake Elementary School, and R. Guild Gray Elementary School.

The Raiders also donated books and bookmarks to schools with the help of Nevada State Bank.

R. Guild Gray Elementary was the first school visited, as Raiders front office staff read books to kindergarten through fifth grade students.

Raiders offensive tackle Jalen McKenzie read to students at Robert E. Lake Elementary's P.E. classroom, where he also answered student's questions. McKenzie was signed to the Raiders' practice squad back in October. The club signed him to a reserve/future contract in January.

Members of the Raiderettes visited Acelero Learning Headstart Spring Valley, where they read to preschoolers.

McKenzie also visited Addeliar D. Guy III Elementary and participated in a group reading. He was joined by Raiders linebacker Darien Butler. Students were able to ask both players questions.

The last school visited was Henderson International School, where members of the Raiderettes and a member from the Raiders front office read to pre-kindergarten through second grade students.

The Raiders have been reading to local students as part of Nevada Reading Week for six consecutive years now. This year's theme was "Embracing the Magic of Reading."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
