Ravens expected to sign former Steelers CB
On the same day the Ravens officially parted ways with Marcus Peters, who signed a one-year deal with the Raiders on Monday, they decided to add another veteran corner from their division rival.
Baltimore is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign former Steelers CB Arthur Maulet, reports Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network. Maulet mostly played slot cornerback and special teams snaps the last two years.
Maulet's time in Pittsburgh ended abruptly after a solid two-year run where he had 106 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception. He requested and was granted his release from the Steelers in May.
However, keeping the 30-year-old didn't make a ton of since for Pittsburgh after it signed veteran CB Patrick Peterson and drafted corners Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice Jr. this offseason.
It's safe to say it rubbed Maulet the wrong way.
"Being too loyal will leave a sour taste in ya mouth with this game. You gotta get what you can out these m** because they don't have no loyalty in this business! My work always speaks for itself, my grind always speaks for itself," Maulet said in one social media post. "They pay who they wanna pay and slave who they wanna slave. S*** weird. S*** ain't football. S*** a popularity contest."
Maulet will now get to face his former team twice a year on the opposite side of the Ravens vs. Steelers rivalry in hopes of showing Pittsburgh what it lost.
