Ravens reunite with veteran amid RB injuries

The Ravens' injury report seems to be growing every week and another running back was added to it Wednesday. So, the team decided to reunite with a veteran.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, RB Justice Hill suffered a toe injury that could keep him out of Baltimore's Week 3 matchup with the Colts (1-1), who've allowed the seventh-least rushing yards per game (78.5) in the NFL.

As insurance, the Ravens signed veteran RB Kenyan Drake, who was with the team in 2022 and rushed for 482 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.

Baltimore also hosted running backs Ronald Jones and James Robinson on Wednesday, but it decided to go with its familiarity with Drake.

The 29-year-old signed with the Colts in August but now brings some much-needed depth to the Ravens' running back room that has already lost J.K. Dobbins for the season after he tore his Achilles in Week 1.

The addition of Drake was a necessary move, but Gus Edwards and Hill, once he returns, will still likely lead the backfield.

The two running backs filled in nicely for Dobbins in Week 2, rushing for a combined 103 yards and one touchdown.

Baltimore still has RB Melvin Gordon as well, so it would likely take another injury for Drake to see the field. Head coach John Harbaugh is also high on Gordon, who he name-dropped following Dobbin's injury.

"We're good, like the guys we have. Melvin Gordon is here for a reason. He's a proven back and I'm very very glad he's here," Harbaugh said.

For now, it's all aboard the "Gus Bus" in Week 3 as the Ravens' merry-go-round at running back continues.
