RB Darrel Williams visits with Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals put pen to paper on a three-year extension with first-choice running back James Conner last month and still have Eno Benjamin and Jaylen Samuels on the roster after they lost Chase Edmonds to free agency and, ultimately, to the Miami Dolphins.
Arizona is apparently looking to add to the depth chart at the position this spring.
As noted by Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Darrel Williams visited with the Cardinals on Monday. It's unclear if they're letting him leave town without signing a contract.
Williams first entered the NFL when he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and proved to be quite a bargain for the club throughout his first four pro seasons. Most recently, he recorded 558 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 144 carries and also contributed 47 receptions for 452 yards and two additional scores during the 2021 regular season. Across his career, he's averaged 3.8 yards per carry.
Fansided's John Buhler pointed out last week that Williams seemed to take to Twitter to react negatively after Kansas City signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones II. It appears Williams won't be returning to the Chiefs even if he doesn't join the Cardinals.
