Report: Giants QB Daniel Jones 'likely' out vs. Chargers with neck injury; Mike Glennon could clear concussion protocol

It was reported Monday that New York Giants starting quarterback Daniel Jones would likely miss this Sunday's game at the 7-5 Los Angeles Chargers because of the strained neck that kept him out of this past Sunday's 20-9 loss at the Miami Dolphins that dropped Big Blue to 4-8 on the season.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Jones still hasn't been cleared to practice and probably will remain sidelined through this weekend.

Vacchiano adds that head coach Joe Judge said Jones hasn't yet been ruled out for the rest of the season and also that he's "optimistic" signal-caller Mike Glennon will be available by Sunday afternoon. Glennon entered the league's concussion protocol coming off the loss at Miami.

The veteran completed 23-of-44 passes for 187 yards with an interception against the Dolphins.

The Giants signed 2020 fifth-round draft pick Jake Fromm off the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills last week, and he's on track to take first-team practice reps until Glennon clears the concussion protocol. Fromm has never thrown a pass in a regular-season game but would be called to start if Glennon and Jones can't play against the Chargers.
