It probably seemed nice at first when Logan Ryan offered to step in and be the New York Giants' backup quarterback, but boy, did he have a backhanded way of saying it.
After established backup Mike Glennon suffered a concussion in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins — and with starter Daniel Jones dealing with a neck injury — the cornerback offered up his services as the emergency QB. Although, he did so by taking a shot at Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the process.
Logan Ryan said he’s available as an emergency QB, which he played in HS, if need-be. Said “I’m a lot like Tua, I can throw two yard passes to the left.”

The comment got a small chuckle from the press, although it still isn't clear to anyone why Ryan threw shade at the Dolphins signal-caller — especially since Tagovailoa had just completed 30 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns in a 20-9 victory against New York.

It's more likely the Giants will wheel and deal to get a healthy QB from somewhere else instead of moving Ryan into that spot. Nevertheless, Ryan's comments will probably have people wondering for the rest of the season how he would fair under center — and if his comments about Tagovailoa were worth making.
