NEW ORLEANS -- Both of the New Orleans Saints' assistant general managers have received interest from teams with open general manager positions. Jeff Ireland, the Saints' vice president and assistant general manager of college scouting has been requested to interview by the Los Angeles Chargers. Per reports, that interview will take place very soon.

Per CBS Sports insider Josina Anderson, the Chargers will conduct Ireland's interview on Wednesday. This will follow a very eventful Tuesday when the Saints moved on from their offensive coordinator, wide receivers coach and an offensive assistant while their running backs coach took the same job with the New York Giants.

It has been a busy week for the Saints and it does not look like it will be slowing down any time soon.

Ireland has been with New Orleans since the 2015 season. He then helped lead the 2017 draft efforts and hit a home run with one of the best NFL draft classes in leage history. That class included the league's offensive and defensive rookies of the year in cornerback Marshon Lattimore and running back Alvin Kamara.

Before his nine seasons in New Orleans he also spent time as the Miami Dolphins' general manager from 2008 - 2013. He has also worked with the Seattle Seahawks (2014), Dallas Cowboys (20)1 - 2007) and the Kansas City Chiefs (1997 - 200).

Without a doubt Ireland has the requisite experience to draw the interest he continues to draw each offseason for open general manager roles. But he would be a big loss for the Saints, who rely on his leadership when it comes to scouting college talent and drafting new additions.
