Report: RB J.D. McKissic reverses course, remains with Commanders on two-year, $7M deal

Running back J.D. McKissic has pulled the inverse of what defensive end Randy Gregory pulled on Tuesday.

After initially deciding to return to the Dallas Cowboys on a five-year, $70 million contract, Gregory -- a career-long Cowboys player elected to head to the Denver Broncos on an identical deal. No free-agent deals can be signed by players changing teams until 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, when the new league year officially begins.

It was widely reported on Tuesday that McKissic would be heading to Western New York to provide star quarterback Josh Allen with a solid pass-catching option at running back. Instead, the 28-year-old will return for his third and fourth years in the nation's capital.

McKissic was limited to 11 games in 2021, recording 91 touches (48 carries, 43 receptions) for 609 yards from scrimmage and total four touchdowns. The Arkansas St. product's best season came in 2020, when he set career highs in rushing attempts (85), rushing yards (365), targets (110), receptions (80) and receiving yards (589).
