Ron Rivera hints Kyle Allen may start over Dwayne Haskins?

Has Washington head coach Ron Rivera decided on his starting quarterback for the 2020 season? It's possible.

If the season began in two weeks, Rivera noted he'd be more comfortable rolling with one quarterback over the other.

"If we were told, hey, you've got two weeks to go, I would feel very comfortable with Kyle," Rivera told Sports Illustrated's Jenny Vrentas. "Because here's a guy that knows the system, has been in the system and could handle it for us for a period of time, and we'll see how that goes. That's kind of the thought process behind it for us."

When Washington added Allen in March, Rivera said he loves the former Carolina Panthers quarterback and how he'll push Dwayne Haskins to be a better competitor.

Obviously the 2020 season could be impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, but it certainly sounds like Rivera may roll with Allen to begin the year with Washington regardless.

The 24-year-old went 5-7 last season with a 62 percent completion percentage, 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Obviously those aren't the most impressive numbers, but Haskins wasn't much better.

Haskins went 2-5 with a 58.6 completion percentage, 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.

It's sort of a toss-up between the two, but Allen has the leg up having worked with Rivera in Carolina.
