Ryan Clark on Steelers offense: 'They suck'

The Steelers offense has an array of young and talented playmakers, but they've struggled to start the season. ESPN analyst Ryan Clark isn't sure who's to blame, but when asked what's going on with Pittsburgh's offense, he answered with, "They suck."

"I think when you look at the skillset of the skill players though, it's underachieving. If you line them up, George Pickens, Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, [Pat] Freiermuth and Najee Harris, this is an offense that should produce explosive plays, and also consistency in gaining first downs and scoring, and they're not," Clark added.

There's been a lot of finger pointing for the offensive woes, but the Steelers need to take another step to figure it out against the 1-2 New York Jets Sunday.

Although, Clark doesn't think it'll be easy. "Whether it's Matt Canada, whether it's the offensive line, whether it's Mitchell Trubisky, I'm not sure. But I don't think coach Tomlin can be either. So, I think it's hard to fix because of that."

Pittsburgh has had a difficult time sustaining drives ranking last in NFL average time of possession (24:15) and third to last in first downs (49), per ESPN.com

It's doubtful the Steelers will find all of the needed answers this week, but giving the defense a little more time to breathe between series would be a step in the right direction.
