Seahawks add dynamic playmaker to offense

Without a wide receiver drafted in the first 19 picks, Jaxon Smith-Njigba started a run of four straight when he was selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

Out of Ohio State, Smith-Njigba is an electric talent on the field, with the ability to run a complete route tree and hands that rarely drop a pass he figures to add another dimension to the Seahawks offense.

He is able to make defenders miss in the open field and is a deep ball threat, with ESPN's Matt Miller comparing his game to that of Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Missing a majority of the 2022 season for Ohio State due to a lingering hamstring injury and choosing to sit out the College Football Playoffs, Smith-Njigba caught 95 passes for 1606 yards and nine touchdowns in his only full college season in 2021.

Missing the games didn't deter teams from having him as the best wide receiver on their draft boards.

With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett already slotted into the offense, adding a player of Smith-Njigba's talent level could lead to major trouble for NFC West teams.

The Seahawks, a playoff team in 2022, added two top talents in the first round of the draft after taking Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon with the fifth pick earlier in the draft.

With eight more picks left in the draft for the Seahawks, including three in tomorrow's second and third rounds Seattle is primed to add a few more high-end talents to its roster.
