Shannon Sharpe compares Broncos to elevator music

Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end and former Bronco Shannon Sharpe feels like "Broncos Country" needs to hop off the Russell Wilson ride.

"You're stuck, like an elevator with a song on repeat. Ain't no getting off," Sharpe said Tuesday on Undisputed.

Wilson probably thinks Sharpe needs to enjoy the tunes because it's all part of the self-titled ''Mr.Unlimited'' experience.

"I came here knowing that this is gonna be a journey," Wilson said following a 22-16 overtime loss to the Raiders. "I'm willing to go as far as we need to go for it."

However, it's not clear where the journey ends. The Broncos (3-7) are last in the AFC West and have less than a one percent chance to make the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl, per FiveThirtyEight.

"The Broncos are on a road to nowhere," writes Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post.

Sunday's loss to the Raiders encapsulates the frustration. It was their sixth one-possession loss of the season. Wilson received blame because he threw an incompletion on third-and-10 with less than two minutes to go when the Broncos had a 16-13 fourth-quarter lead. The incompletion stopped the clock, buying time for a Raiders comeback.

When Wilson addressed the incompletion, he stated, "it just got away from me a little bit."

Even though Wilson thought he could make the play, it was a poor decision because he wasn't considering the time or score.

Wilson's hubris is concerning because it can lose games and cause a sharp decline in play. Consequently, he's posted a career-low 32.4 QBR in nine starts.

Perhaps he's trying too hard to live up to his contract, a five-year extension with $165 million guaranteed.

The pressure is understandable because it's a massive deal, but Wilson needs to get it together, or the Broncos will remain stuck.
