Snow could play significant role in Chiefs-Broncos game

The Denver Broncos will be trying to snap a 16-game losing streak against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and they might have an unexpected force helping them out.

Mother nature.

The city of Denver is in the direct line of a winter storm that is expected to dump 6-12 inches of snow on the region throughout Sunday. Even though most of the snow is expected to fall before Sunday's kickoff (4:25 p.m. ET), it could still be snowing and playing a factor for the game.

There is no greater equalizer in the NFL than weather, and that can be especially true if there is a significant snowfall during a game. That could especially play havoc on a dominant offense like the Chiefs. The passing game can get slowed down, so the running game can take greater importance. That just might be the type of thing the Broncos need to slow the Chiefs down to the point where they can keep the game close and potentially steal a win.

The Broncos have not beaten Kansas City since the 2015 season, losing every matchup since then.

That includes a 19-8 Chiefs win in Kansas City during Week 6.

If conditions were equal, the Chiefs would be a heavy favorite against a Broncos team that has struggled all year under first-year coach Sean Payton. While the Chiefs should still be expected to win, the weather could significantly change what the game looks like in terms of style and results.
