The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they released center Mason Cole.

The cost-cutting move saves Pittsburgh $4.75 million -- Cole's $3.25 million salary for 2024 and a $1.5 million roster bonus. The Steelers began Friday just $8.47 million under the salary cap.

Cole, who turns 28 next month, started all 34 regular-season games plus one playoff game during his two seasons with the Steelers.

Cole joined Pittsburgh as an unrestricted free agent following the 2021 season and received a three-year, $15.75 million deal.

He was a 2018 third-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals and spent three seasons with the franchise. Cole played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 before becoming a free agent.

Cole has started 73 of 94 games played over his six NFL seasons.
