Steelers Ink Tough Former Chiefs Offensive Lineman

The Steelers are signing former Chiefs offensive lineman Anderson Hardy, the team announced on Wednesday. Hardy is part of the 17 reserve/future contracts they signed following the season.

Hardy came out of Appalachian State as a starter at left tackle. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Hardy was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs before being released. He projects as an NFL guard, playing both right and left guard in the preseason with the Chiefs despite starting most of his games in college at tackle. He earned All-Sun Belt honors both years as a two-year starter with Appalachian State. He has some experience at the center, too.

The Steelers hosted him for a tryout back in September. Now, he lands with the team. Hardy should add to some interior depth, as the team re-signed Joey Fisher and Kellen Diesch as well. Diesch is a tackle, but Fisher and Hardy both should play some on the interior during training camp and provide more depth. Of course, the team should be expected to add more to the offensive line this offseason, and so the path to the roster is murkier than it is for other spots.

But Hardy should see himself have an avenue to pushing for a spot. Dylan Cook did the same thing this offseason, and an impressive training camp and preseason landed him on the final roster.
