Steelers part ways with training-camp favorite

The Steelers had themselves a busy Monday, and it ended with the team parting ways with a training-camp favorite.

Veteran WR Anthony Miller tweeted, "Thank You Pittsburgh" followed by a black heart.

Later, the Steelers officially announced his release.

Miller was never able to establish himself in Pittsburgh after tearing his ACL during last year's training camp. He finishes with just one catch for two yards as a Steeler.

Although, Miller did impress at training camp before getting injured a year ago. He caught a record seven balls in the team's punt return drill.

Pittsburgh did re-sign Miller to a one-year extension in January, but if the 28-year-old hasn't shown he's fully healthy, it may explain his release.

Miller's release may come as a surprise, but it was not guaranteed he was going to make the Steelers' 53-man roster anyway. Pittsburgh's receiver room is stacked with talent with Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Allen Robinson II and Calvin Austin III.

The battle for WR5 now comes down to Gunner Olszewski, Miles Boykin and Hakeem Butler.
