The Houston Texans are bringing back defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth after he played in just one game for the team during the 2022 season.

Stalloworth, 27, appeared for Houston in week 14 of last season against the Dallas Cowboys — registering four combined tackles (two solo) and a tackle for loss in the Texans' 27-23 loss at AT&T Stadium.

“He had two days, really one day of practice,” former head coach Lovie Smith told the media the day after the game. “It was finals week. We crammed as far as getting as much of the playbook in. Again, I thought he did a good job picking up stuff mentally and the way he played also.”

His signing comes on the heels of the Texans inking longtime long snapper Jon Weeks to his 14th season with the team.

Stalloworth has spent several seasons in the NFL, including stints with the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs.

The 6-2, 300-pound defensive tackle went undrafted in 2018 after attending college at South Carolina.

He was inked by the Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2018, and was able to make New Orleans' 53-man roster after a successful preseason showing. Stallworth was waived on Sept. 17, 2019, only to be re-signed to the Saints' practice squad. He was waived for a second time on Aug. 3, 2021.

Stalloworth's next stint brought him to the Colts, where he signed with the team on Aug. 10, 2020. He signed a one-year extension with Indianapolis on Jan. 10, 2021.

Stallworth was signed by the Chiefs on April 5, 2022, before being released on Dec. 6, 2022, and was claimed by the Texans off waivers on Dec. 7, 2022.

He was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 17, 2022 (two days after the lone game he played for Houston) with a calf injury before re-inking with Houston on Monday.

Stallworth's career NFL stats include playing in 57 games (two starts) with 46 combined tackles (24 solo), 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one pass deflection.
