Three players Bills could target at trade deadline

Buffalo remains in the market for roster upgrades. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Here are potential options for the Bills.

Broncos DT D.J. Jones

A starting defensive line of Von Miller, Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver, and D.J. Jones is Super Bowl caliber. Jones made the Colts' Ryan Kelly, among the league's best centers, look terrible in Week 5

Jones has two sacks after a 2021 in which he had 10 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles for the Niners. Jones is underrated and probably a better player than Bills DT Jordan Phillips, particularly in run defense.

The Broncos (2-5) could be sellers at the trade deadline.

Washington RB Antonio Gibson

Gibson has had his share of highs and lows, posting 21 touchdowns over his first two seasons but six fumbles in 2021. That likely factored into his falling out of favor in Washington.

Gibson has played behind a poor offensive line. He's nearly a polar opposite player from current Bills starter Devin Singletary, who couples impressive vision and fundamentals with subpar athletic traits.

Gibson has his flaws, but his speed and pass-catching would be assets for Buffalo -- if GM Brandon Beane is willing to deal with a Washington player again

Browns RB Kareem Hunt

Buffalo has been trying to upgrade its receiving back for a while. A versatile player who has shouldered receiving duties in Cleveland, Hunt is reportedly on the trading block.

The Browns run a different offense than the Bills schematically, but Hunt is a talent who would fill a role that rookie James Cook might not grow into until his second season.

Hunt led the league in rushing yards with 1,327 in 2017 as a rookie in Kansas City and has 48 touchdowns in 66 regular-season games.

As an NFL player, Hunt has had problems off the field, including domestic violence while with the Chiefs.
