Two-time Super Bowl champion announces his retirement

After 11 seasons, six championship games, three Super Bowl appearances and two Super Bowl rings, defensive back Logan Ryan announced his retirement via social media on Tuesday.

"I am officially retiring from the NFL after 11 seasons," Ryan said in a video posted to platform X. "Man, what a great career, what a ride it was. Beautiful journey of highs and lows...I'm so blessed, man. I wouldn't change it for the world. So, thank you once again."

Ryan was a third-round pick by New England in the 2013 NFL Draft after being named a first-team All-American at Rutgers in 2012. He would go onto to win Super Bowls XLIX and LI with the Patriots before joining the Titans in his second chapter in the league.

The 33-year-old will be mostly remembered for his time in New England, but one of the biggest highlights in his career came in Tennessee when he intercepted his former quarterback, Tom Brady, on his final pass with the Patriots in the 2019 wild-card round of the playoffs.

Ryan spent three seasons (2017-19) with the Titans and then bounced around a few teams at the end of his career, playing for the New York Giants from 2020-21, Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 and 49ers last season after starting safety Talanoa Hufanga suffered a season-ending ACL injury late in the year.

He was almost able to earn his third Super Bowl championship with San Francisco, but the team fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 25-22 in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII.

Ryan finished his career with an impressive 755 tackles, 13 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 19 interceptions, 98 passes defensed and one touchdown.
