Veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick leaning toward retirement?

Teams hoping to land veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in free agency might have to look elsewhere.

According to John Clayton of 104.3 The Fan, Fitzpatrick is leaning toward retirement in 2021 after 16 NFL seasons.

The 38-year-old split time at quarterback with Tua Tagovailoa last season for the Miami Dolphins. He went 4-3, completing 68.5% of his passes for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions.

Many expected Fitzpatrick to have some more gas left in the tank for the 2021 season, but that doesn't appear to be the case. However, Fitzpatrick has several suitors this offseason. So, if he wants to play, he'll likely be able to. The Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and the Washington Football Team were among the most likely landing spots for the veteran.

If he does retire, though, the Harvard product will have finished his NFL career having played for eight different teams — the Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.
