Vikings UFA profile: OL David Quessenberry

When the Bills released veteran tackle David Quessenberry during final roster cuts last year, the Vikings quickly recognized the opportunity and signed him to a one-year deal. That proved to be a worthwhile move, as he ended up playing in six games — starting four of them — as the team's swing tackle.

The Vikings were already without Christian Darrisaw in Week 2 when Oli Udoh suffered a season-ending quad injury. That meant Quessenberry was thrust into action. He made another start at LT in Week 9 against the Falcons, then started three of the season's last four games at right tackle due to Brian O'Neill's injuries. In total, Quessenberry played 331 offensive snaps across six games, earning a 68.3 pass blocking grade with just one sack allowed and one penalty. Those are very solid numbers for a backup.

Quessenberry is a 6'5" tackle who was drafted all the way back in 2013. He survived Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma during his time with the Texans and went on to play for the Titans and Bills, starting all 18 games at RT for Tennessee in 2021. Quessenberry turns 34 in August, but he should have little trouble making someone's 53-man roster this fall as a swing tackle option. The Vikings could certainly look to bring him back for depth behind Darrisaw and O'Neill.
