The Washington Commanders are expected to make some major changes to their roster during the 2024 NFL offseason. With a new regime in place, the personnel on the roster will assuredly change.

Taking over as head coach will be Dan Quinn, who spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys. Normally, when a person comes over from a different franchise, they like to bring players along with them who they are familiar with.

That is the case so far in Washington. They are reportedly finalizing a deal to bring in defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr., who spent the first six seasons of his career in Dallas and had his most productive campaigns under Quinn.

He isn’t the only player leaving the Cowboys for the Commanders, as they are bolstering the trenches on the other side of the ball as well. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Washington is going to be bringing in another familiar face; center Tyler Biadasz.

Biadasz, a fourth-round pick of the Cowboys out of Wisconsin in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been a stalwart for Dallas the last three seasons. He has missed only two games, starting the other 49 games that he played in.

He is a good pick-up by the Commanders, as his 69.2 overall grade from PFF in 2023 was 14th among centers in the NFL. He excels as a pass-blocker, ranking 12th in that category and 16th in run-blocking.

It will be interesting to see what the Commanders do with last season’s starter at center, Nick Gates. He signed a multi-year deal with the team last season and played well, ranking 17th on PFF. Gates could kick over to one of the guard spots, bolstering the interior of the offensive line.
