Washington Football Team signs punter Ryan Winslow

At 6-9, the Washington Football Team has a must-win showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 on Sunday. Even with a couple of wins to close out the regular season, the Football Team will need some help in order to clinch a spot in the postseason.

Washington made a move Friday morning to help the cause, but if all things go according to plan on offense, the newest acquisition won't be needed for much work against Philadelphia.

The signing comes after punter Tress Way was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. Winslow is in his second NFL season after appearing in two contests for the Arizona Cardinals in 2019.

Winslow played in one game with the Cardinals this season and two with the Carolina Panthers.

Way is in his eighth NFL season, all with Washington. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019 when he averaged a league-high 49.6 yards per punt.

He's recorded 54 punts for 2,656 yards (49.2 yards per punt) through 15 games in 2021.
