Al Michaels. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Al Michaels couldn’t resist taking a shot at the Houston Astros on Thursday night.

Michaels was calling the Week 17 “Thursday Night Football” game for Amazon between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. There was plenty of banging when the Jets offense was on the field at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland. The loud banging led Michaels to crack an Astros trash can joke.

“Somebody’s pounding on that trash can. I think the Astros must be in town,” Michaels joked during the second quarter.

Michaels, of course, was referencing the infamous Houston Astros cheating scandal. The Astros cheated during the 2017 MLB season by banging on trash cans from inside their clubhouse to signal to their hitters what type of pitch was coming.

The Astros won the World Series that year and won it all again in 2022. Even several years later, nobody is letting them off the hook for their cheating.
