Arizona Coyotes sign Christian Fischer to two-year contract

Arizona Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong announced on Monday that the club has signed restricted free agent forward Christian Fischer to a two-year contract. Armstrong didn't unveil the exact terms of the deal per the team's policy, but Craig Morgan of AZ Coyotes Insider reported the agreement holds an average annual value of $1 million.

The Coyotes drafted Fischer in the second round back in 2015, and the 23-year-old made his official NHL debut in January 2017. Across 56 games during the pandemic-altered 2019-20 season, Fischer tallied six goals and three assists for nine points with 16 penalty minutes. He finished the campaign third on the Coyotes with 140 hits.

In Arizona's nine postseason games, Fischer notched one assist and six penalty minutes.

"We are very pleased to sign Christian to a multi-year contract," Armstrong said in a statement shared by the team's website. "Christian is a hard-working, power forward who is strong along the boards. He will add size and toughness to our forward group."

Over 213 career regular-season games, Fischer has 35 goals and 28 assists for 63 points with five career game-winning goals.
