Yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks had a team day off but a few of their injured players took to the ice.

Along with Jason Dickinson, Kyle Burroughs, and Elias Pettersson (more on him in our scenes from morning skate article that will be posted shortly) Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Sutter skated yesterday, Bruce Boudreau told The Athletic.

Sutter has been dealing with long-haul COVID-19 symptoms since August.

It’s been a confusing, frustrating time for Sutter, who’s been seen numerous times throughout the season cheering on his teammates from the press box.

Sutter’s initial COVID-19 diagnosis came in March of last season, when over 25 Canucks players and staff tested positive for the Brazil P.1 variant, immediately confining many of the players to their beds with a wide range of ailments.

Sutter suffered more than most, but returned for eight games before shutting down the rest of his season.

He was re-signed in the offseason by the Canucks and thought he would be good to go for this season until he ramped up his workouts in August of 2021 to get prepared for the season ahead.

That’s when Sutter became dizzy and couldn’t catch his breath after a workout, and ultimately realized it was time to put his career on hold.

There have been few updates on Sutter because there just hasn’t been much change in his status.

The fact he’s skating is certainly a positive sign, and we will keep you updated as he continues to progress.
