The list of outstanding items for Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy to complete is getting whittled down. On Thursday morning, the club announced that they have re-signed restricted free agent forwards Ben Jones and Emilio Pettersen to one-year, two-way deals. They’re both worth $775,000 at the NHL level.

Jones, 24, joined the Flames last summer as a free agent – he wasn’t qualified by Vegas – and had a really effective season for the Wranglers. He had 54 points in 71 games, and was a really reliable player who the coaching staff could throw onto the ice in any game situation and good rock-solid results.

Pettersen, 23, was a sixth-round selection by the Flames back in 2018. He’s sort of a Jekyll and Hyde player: when he’s “on” his game, he’s arguably one of the best players in the Flames’ system. When he’s not “on,” the details of his game drift to the point where he was an occasional healthy scratch the past two seasons under Mitch Love. His offensive production is definitely trending in a positive direction – he had 44 points in 61 games last season – but the likely hope is he can continue building consistency into his overall game.

With these signings, the Flames have zero outstanding RFAs remaining.
