Forward Jonathan Gruden , a restricted free agent, has signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It is a two-way deal worth $775,000 if/when Gruden plays in the NHL.

Gruden, 23, appeared in three games with the Penguins last season. He also had 16 goals and 15 assists in 54 games with their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre in 2022-23.

The Penguins acquired Gruden, who is 6-foot, 172 pounds, from Ottawa in the 2020 trade that sent Matt Murray to the Senators. Ottawa had selected him in the fourth round of the NHL Draft in 2018.
