Another week has passed, and it’s time for our weekly LA Kings prospect update. This week’s prospect update was highlighted by rookie defenseman Brandt Clarke , who scored his first career NHL goal against the Boston Bruins, which came as the overtime winner. Clarke finished serving his two-minute hooking penalty he got whistled for when he took down David Pastrnak entering the Kings zone. After exiting the penalty box, Clarke picked up the puck at the offensive blue line, which had just been banked off the boards and out to center ice by Phillip Danault. Clarke finished his breakaway chance against last year’s Vezina trophy winner, Linus Ullmark, with a good stick-handling move in tight by going from his backhand to forehand to complete the comeback for LA.

Clarke became the third Kings prospect (Alex Laferriere and Alex Turcotte the other two) to record their first career NHL goal this season and the second one (Laferriere being the other) to do it against Boston. Per the LA Kings PR, he was the first player in franchise history to score his first career NHL goal in overtime.
