Morgan Rielly has seen it all in his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and after seeing fans throw their jersey on the ice, he's blames the teams play for it.
The Toronto Maple Leafs 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers has been the talk of the NHL over the past 18 hours, and with the team now facing a 3-2 deficit in the series, the Game 5 loss on home ice may be the thing that finally sees this Core Four experiment come to an end.
To make matters worse for the Maple Leafs, the annual tradition of fans throwing jerseys on the ice continued on Wednesday, and clearly, the team was embarrassed over this incident and the play that led them to be thoroughly dominated.
After the game, there was plenty of reaction coming out of the Maple Leafs locker room, with veteran blue liner Morgan Rielly specifically addressing the fans discarding their jerseys on the ice during play.
'It's tough, but they have the right to do what they want. We need to play better. When that doesn't happen, everyone's upset.'
Unfortunately for Rielly, this isn't the first time he's seen this since being in Toronto, as it appears to happen yearly during the teams Stanley Cup Playoffs meltdown, but after having a 2-0 series lead and a 3-1 lead in Game 3, something about this season feels extra heartbreaking for Maple Leafs fans.
This is likely going to lead to mass changes for the organization in the summer, with John Tavares and Mitch Marner both potentially on the way out in free agency, and unless the team can perform a miracle and win the next two games, don't be shocked to see more than them moved on.
