Chelsea should soon be announcing their new permanent manager, largely expected to be former Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino.

There is a lot being said about this right now and Pochettino’s discussions with Chelsea being very deep with the Argentine having a lot of questions to make sure they are all seeing things in the same way, and making sure he will be heard and listened to in terms of control and having a say in operations. I think this is a very good thing and he should have that.

Especially when you hear that one of the things he has told Chelsea is that he keen to bring in proven Premier League quality players when recruiting this summer.

Chelsea have lacked general experience and leadership this season and although signing top young quality has been great, they do need to search for a bit more balance now.

“What Pochettino does want is proven Premier League quality, ” Ben Jacobs explained in his latest column for Caught Offside. “It’s another thing he has stressed.”

“Pochettino has still been keen to understand existing summer plans, especially around outgoings. Pochettino will also look at a new goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker. His relationship with co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart is going to be key.”
