Ismael Bennacer remains the perfect embodiment of AC Milan’s project and he is hoping that the new season will be one of redemptions for him.

MilanNews writes how among the players who have contributed to Milan’s rise under head coach Stefano Pioli is Bennacer, the profile that perfectly fits the policy that Paolo Maldini and the management are trying to pursue with such rigor: young, talented and the potential to become one of the best in his position.

Above all though the Algerian remains tied to the project as Bennacer believes in Milan in the same way that Milan believes in him. He struggled a bit after first signing from Empoli back in summer 2019, but with more minutes, a growing confidence and also with the arrival of Stefano Pioli, he elevated not only his performances but also those of the entire squad.

Bennacer is not the only player to follow this path as Theo Hernandez, Kessié, Calabria, Tomori, Tonali, Saelemaekers and other young players have shown themselves to be worthwhile investments.

The numbers are encouraging too, as Bennacer has started to commit fewer fouls, to be more alert and less impetuous, From 48 committed in 2019-2020, he went to 20 in the year just ended. From 14 yellow cards – the all-time high of two years ago – he has dropped to just 4 yellow cards, also avoiding any suspension.

At just 23 he has already suffered several injuries – perhaps as a punishment for such a heavy workload – and most of the recent ones have affected the great work done in the post-Covid period. Now though, he is chomping at the bit and ready for the new campaign, to prove he can become Mr. Reliable again.
