Monza striker Andrea Petagna has reportedly emerged as the newest option for Inter Milan in their quest to find a new centre-forward.

The Nerazzurri parted ways with Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko at the end of last season.

The management picked up Marcus Thuram as a free agent. But another new striker remains a necessity for Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Andrea Petagna is leaving Monza this summer and has been proposed to Inter Milan.

The 28-year-old started his career as an AC Milan youth product. After several loan spells, he joined Atalanta in 2016.

The Italian enjoyed a splendid first campaign in Bergamo under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini.  However, he eventually fell out of favor.

The attacker then reignited his career at Spal, earning a transfer to Napoli in 2020. But after two underwhelming campaigns in the south, he joined Monza on loan last summer.

The Biancorossi made the transfer permanent this summer, but are reportedly looking to sell the well-traveled forward.

Inter Milan Offered The Services Of Monza Striker Andrea Petagna

As the source explains, this could be a low-cost solution for Inter who lack a physically imposing target man.

Petagna could be a fourth-choice striker if Joaquin Correa were to leave Appiano Gentile this summer, or even an additional option in the squad.

But as the source explains, Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun remains the first choice for the management. Porto veteran Mehdi Taremi is also on the shortlist.

On the other hand, Alexis Sanchez would only return as a replacement for Correa.
